Vessels & forms

Having worked figuratively for many years, I decided to take a new path, one that was more intuitive, free from defined thoughts and ideas, no statements or narration, just abstract forms. This led to creating vessels (coil method) and abstract sculptures not for function or message but rather solely for their form. It has allowed for pure expression through tactile manipulation of the medium and letting it dictate its direction. Unencumbered by predetermined concepts and values it has been an enriching experience.

But along the way the human form has unconsciously developed in a subtle and simplistic way. Some of these vessels reveal their humanity through their organic abstracted forms. There is a feeling or sense of a faceless soul, an unfilled void. Yet at the same time they convey strength, endurance, and a certain stoicism.
